How To Make A Reliable Canvas by kusiiion How To Make A Reliable Canvas by kusiiion
This is my first tutorial, so it might be a little rough.

**Fall '12**
This definitely needs to be updated. I'm working on a new tutorial that will be posted soon.

thank you for putting this up for us! i'm gonna start building my own stretcher bars... i bought premade stretcher bars for an 18x24 canvas from the local art store that my teacher said i HAD to buy from. $42 later (plus $20 for the canvas), i'm feeling incredibly ripped off now : (

I have tried this at school and home sometimes :) I think that self made canvas is also even better than the canvas which is sold in stores... Anyway, very great tutorial!

For a small investment, I would add a pair of canvas pliers. They make getting a good tight stretch a lot easier and if you're going to do many canvases they keep the strain on the hands down. Also I've found the best way to get a good even stretch is to start at the center of each side, then go to the opposing side and working with a few staples at a time out to the corners.

dude, as tutorials go this one was spot on. sound info with some good 'action' shots. XD

gotta admit tho, im too lazy to go to this much effort, therfore, i use cardboard! the lazy and cheapskate way around canvas problems. XD
